Manual Handling Training

Generally, manual handling accounts for around one third of all workplace accidents, with the back being the most common part of the body injured at work with around 25% of workplace accidents resulting in back injuries.

 

Occurrences of manual handling injury are particularly high in the wholesale and retail sector at 47%, in manufacturing at 40% and in health and social work which comes in at 38%.

 

In 2006 manual handling and "slips and trips" accounted for over 50% of all reported accidents.

 

Southern Safety manual handling and patient handling trainers are FETAC Level 6 qualified.

Manual Handling training takes just over three hours and as well as plenty of lifting practise your employees can expect to learn about:

  • Workplace legislation
  • Fitness
  • Specific manual handling hazards
  • Unfamiliar loads
  • Ways to avoid manual handling

Successful candidates receive a certificate which is valid for three years.

 

Add one hour to the course and we can add an introduction to fire safety, fire extinguisher training and a fire drill to the course for a small additional fee.
