People Moving

This important training course is a legal requirement for all employees who may be exposed to

the risk of back injury from people and patient moving activities of any kind.

The course teaches correct lifting techniques and gives candidates the means to understand

and avoid related hazards and risks in the workplace. The one day patient handling course also

includes a full certified Manual Handling Course. For those with a recent Manual Handling

certificate a half day course can be provided.

The course is aimed at companies or individuals int he medical or related professions

who have occasion to move and assist patients and other persons in the course of their work.

Contents	Workplace Legislation Anatomy, the spine Work related upper limb disorders (wruld) and injuries Risk factors Safe lifting techniques and principles Transferring, supporting, gliding, sliding, sitting & standing Use of hoists
Certification	Each successful candidate will receive a FETAC approved certificate of qualification in Patient Moving & Handling, valid for three years.
Materials	Course material includes a manual for all participants. The use of a bed and a hoist is included. It is much more cost effectove for these to be supplied within the client company to avoid hire charges.
